Extra Innings Errors Cost A’s in Loss to Orioles

The stage was set to hand the Orioles their first loss of the season.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, with only one out, the A’s and runners on second and third with one out in a scoreless ballgame. A strikeout and deep pop-fly later and the A’s best chance at plating some runs Sunday disappeared.
As the game went to extra innings with Jared Reklaitis throwing a gem, a couple of A’s errors allowed Lombard to score and that was all she wrote as the Orioles blanked the A’s 4-0 to close out the Wisconsin State League’s 5th game Challenge weekend in Sheboygan. The A’s finished the weekend 1-2. Reklaitis pitched seven and two-thirds innings, striking out 10, and didn’t allow any earned runs.
The A’s now sit at an even 9-9 through about a third of the season and are near the bottom of the WSL standings with a 2-7 league record.
Up next, the A’s take on the Branch Blaze in a non-league matchup Monday night at Wildwood Park. The A’s will be collecting donations for the Kindred Heart Families, where fans can get a free general admission ticket to the game with a donation of new kids’ underwear or socks at the main gate.
