The Sheboygan A’s hot start to the season continued Saturday with 12-9 and 6-3 victories over the Chicago Rippers at Wildwood Park.

The wins move the A’s to 5-1 overall. The two teams meet again Sunday at 1 PM for another doubleheader at Wildwood to round out the four-game weekend series.

The A’s offense scored four in the first and eight in the third then held off a Rippers rally late to take game one. Eric Schmitz started the game, going five innings. Billy McConnell and Noah Imrie closed out the game in relief with Imrie getting the save. Brady Zackrison, Riley Palmquist, and Ross Krist each had two RBI in the winning effort, while Gus Walker was 3-4 with two singles and a double.

Brad Rindfleisch struck out 13 in a complete-game performance in game two, giving him 25 strikeouts in 12 innings so far in 2022. Zackrison continued his hot start to the season with two more hits.

Sunday’s doubleheader is the first Meijer Family Day of the season. Kids ages 12 and under get a free general admission ticket to the game and can get player autographs between games of the doubleheader, and run the bases post-game. Grilled cheese sandwiches will be available at the Sargento Hardball Cafe.
