A’s, Braves Split Saturday Doubleheader
Posted: July 18, 2021
After blowing a 4-0 lead late and falling in extra innings in game one, the A’s held off another late comeback attempt in game two to split Saturday’s doubleheader with the Addison Braves in Addison.
The two teams will square off again today at 1 PM.
Up by four entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Braves capitalized on three A’s errors and five singles against A’s starter Eric Schmitz to take a 5-4 lead. The offense responded to tie things up in the top of the seventh off of a Mark Waner line drive to center to send the game to extras, where Addison would walk it off in the bottom of the eighth.
The A’s bounced back during game two, jumping out to an early lead to get the 9-7 victory. Ross Krist, TJ Roberts, Cole Erickson, and Nick Hancock each collected multi-hit games with Roberts hitting a double and triple. Noah Imrie and Davis Wilson combined to get the victory.
