A’s come from behind to beat Appleton, 7-4

The Appleton Legends had a 4-0 lead before the Sheboygan A’s stirred the coals in the sixth inning and kept the fire going for a 7-4 win.
The win put the A’s at 4-1 and on top of the league standings.
Josh Gates hit his first home run of the season to pull the A’s to 4-2 after six innings, but sparked by Brad Rindfleisch’s long home run that kicked off the inning, the A’s scored four in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead. Drew Lechnir and Ross Krist contributed hits to the big inning that was aided by three walks and Harry Steldt’s sacrifice fly.
Jimmy Juergensen’s 2-run single in the eighth made the final 7-4. Derek Loomans got the win, Ben Folger the save.
Now 20-10-1, the A’s play Appleton again on Wednesday night, this time in Sheboygan, and they are anticipating a full house. Courtesy of the Sheboygan Optimist Club, the famous Milwaukee Brewers Racing Sausages will be at the park Wednesday night for the first part of the game along with several other mascots who will be there to celebrate the birthday of A’s mascot, A1. The occasion is of such importance that Culver’s will be providing FREE frozen custard. Wednesday is also Salute to Service Night that will honor veterans as well as first responders. Emergency vehicles will be on site for kids to get a close-up view and the color guard of VFW Post 9156 will present the colors.
Those events, plus several groups who will be in attendance, have spurred the A’s to line up parking at the Municipal Services Building from which fans will be shuttled to the ball park. Beginning at 6:15, a shuttle bus will run continuously.
The Sheboygan A’s are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A’s have helped develop more than 41 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
