9-Run Fourth Sends A’s Past Oshkosh
Posted: July 9, 2014
Two mercy rule victories in two days? It may have happened before for the Sheboygan A’s but if it did, nobody can remember it.
After hanging an 11-1 loss on Green BayMonday night, the A’s avoided raindrops and beat up on Oskkosh Tuesday night for a 14-1 win.
Oshkosh scored a run in the top of the first when former A’s player Jeremy McCary belted a long double to drive in Joe Drago, who had walked. That was it, though, for Oshkosh as A’s starter and finisher Taylor Schwarz limited the Giants to just three hits the rest of the way.
Schwarz improved to 5-0 and dropped is earned run average to 1.38.
The A’s meanwhile were unstoppable. After tying the game at one in the first, the A’s scored in bunches, gradually taking full control of the game and then breaking it apart with a 9-run fourth inning.
Cole Heili with a home run and a double led the A’s attack. Tyler Agard had a single, double and sacrifice fly, and Jake Perez and Dan Barwick two hits each.
The A’s travel to Appleton tonight and to Oshkosh on Thursday before launching play in the Wisconsin State League Challenge this weekend. The A’s are 21-9 for the season.
