Big Two-Out Hits Give A’s Fog-Shortened Win in Kenosha

Posted: June 27, 2014

With two out in the second inning Cole Miklavcic and
Ben Gordon supplied run producing hits and with two out in the fifth, Harry
Steldt blasted a 2-run double to provide all the firepower Brandon Winfield
needed as the Sheboygan A’s posted a 4-1 fog-shortened game at Simmons field in
Kenosha Thursday night.

Umpires stopped game just
after the sixth inning started.

Winfield allowed only
three hits in his five innings of work.

The A’s are now 6-4 in the
Wisconsin State League, 5-3 in the Langsdorf League and 15-8 overall.

The A’s take on the
Addison Braves in four games over the weekend. Saturday’s doubleheader begins at 6 p.m. Between games, Don Diener, a
pitcher-outfielder who played in the club’s early years, will be inducted into
the Hall of Fame. Sunday’s 1 p.m. twin
bill will be Kids & Senior Citizens Day, but will also be
Throwback Day with the A’s donned in uniforms worn in past years and
concessions stand prices rolled back on beer, soda and hot dogs. Players will
be available for autographs and photos on Sunday.

Tuesday is Bourbon St.
Pub’s Fat Tuesday when the Mardi Gras tradition will be celebrated with gumbo
and jambalaya available and on Wednesday July 2 (Game 8 for season ticket
holders) the A’s host Kenosha in the club’s fourth try at holding Sponsors and
Friends Night. Sponsors and friends can
start arriving at 5:30 p.m. for the tailgate reception.
