Appleton Whips A’s

Posted: June 26, 2014

Their visit to first place in the Northeastern Wisconsin
League lasted but two days, as the Appleton Legends used one big inning to whip
the Sheboygan A’s, 7-1, Wednesday night in Appleton.

The
loss drops the A’s to 4-2 in the NEW. Appleton and Menasha have but one loss.

The A’s
scored the game’s first run in the third when Colin Willis singled in Jordan
DeBoer.

The
Legends tied the game in the fourth, took a 1-run lead in the fifth and broke
it open in the seventh with five runs on six hits and one break from the umpire. Derek Loomans took the hard loss. He was holding the hard-hitting Legends down
until an out at the plate was changed to a safe call.

The A’s
are in Kenosha tonight and then return home for a 4-game weekend against Addison.

Between
games of the 6 p.m. doubleheader against Addison Saturday night will be the
induction of Don Diener into the A’s Hall of Fame. Sunday is throwback day with the A’s attired
in uniforms worn in past years and concessions prices for beer, soda and hot
dogs throw back to “olden days” prices as well.
