A’s Hang on To Beat Green Bay

Posted: June 18, 2014

Ben Stanczyk set the tone with another five scoreless innings and the Sheboygan A’s went on to a 3-2 Northeastern Wisconsin League victory over the Green Bay Storm at Wildwood Baseball Park Tuesday night.

The A’s return to Wildwood tonight to take on Kenosha. Tonight is the rescheduled Sponsors and Friends night and Sheboygan Falls Night.

Stanczyk gave up only two hits last night. Green Bay led off the third who two straight hits, but the cool righthander logged two strikeouts and a pop-up to get out of that inning unscathed and finished his stint with 12 straight outs.

The A’s led off the game with three straight hits – singles by Colin Willis and Eric Solberg and a 2-run double by Harry Steldt that got the A’s off to a quick 2-0 lead. Two 2-out walks and Willis’ second hit in as many innings bumped the A’s lead to 3-0 after two.

But the A’s, squandering one opportunity after another with inexcusable base-running blunders, would not score again and the feisty Storm rallied back to within 3-2 with pair of late-game runs, but Max Kramsky came on to retire the final five of the game and earn a save.

The win puts the A’s at 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the NEW.
