Green Bay knocks A’s out of NEW playoffs
Posted: August 8, 2012
The Green Bay Storm bounced back from deficits of 4-0 and 6-2 to defeat the Sheboygan A’s 8-6 and end the A’s hopes for a Northeastern Wisconsin League championship. Green Bay advances to play the Menasha Macs in the NEW championship.
Done in the NEW, the A’s now turn their attention the Langsdorf League and their final game of the season Thursday night in Kenosha when the A’s play the Kings for the league title. Both teams posted 1-run, 11-inning wins in the first two games of the playoff.
With the help of a costly error, Green Bay scored four runs in the eighth inning to take the victory after the A’s clung to a 6-4 lead.
A 2-run single by Matt Bromley, and run-scoring singles by Justin Hunt and Taylor Schwarz keyed a 4-run first inning and Tim Patzman’s 2-run second inning home run gave the A’s their early leads, but as has been the case all too often this year the A’s offense took a hiatus after scoring early and got only one runner as far as second base in the final seven innings.
Bromley had three hits to lead the A’s. Ben Stanczyk gave the A’s another strong start and left with a 6-4 lead. Brandon Winfield was the recipient of his sixth loss of the season.
The bus leaves for Kenosha leaves at 4:30 Thursday. Fans wishing to ride along should call 458-6377 to make arrangements.
