Valparaiso University Valparaiso University swept its three game weekend series against the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
Kevin Wild (2009, 2010) pitched nine innings of no-hit baseball, until another Sheboygan A’s alum (Ryan Solberg) spoiled it with a leadoff double in the 10th inning on Saturday.
Wild finished with a no decision despite his brilliant performance, allowing just the one hit and four walks in nine plus innings of work. He struck out six.
Concordia University Concordia University of Wisconsin received impressive pitching and timely hitting as it scored five runs in the fifth inning to earn a 7-5 non-conference victory over Johns Hopkins University on Friday morning at Snedigar Park during the RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational.
Harry Steldt (2011) laced a two RBI double down the right field line in the fifth frame to help give CUW all the runs they would need.
Steldt is hitting .242 in nine games so far this season, with five doubles and six RBI.
Marian University Marian University used a no-hitter in game one to propel the Sabers to a doubleheader of Finlandia University over the weekend.
Mitch Gardner (2009-2011) pitched three innings of relief, allowing two hits, one run (zero earned), and recorded two strikeouts.
Gardner is 0-0 on the year in three appearances (two starts) with a 4.15 ERA.
University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point Ryan Schilter (2010, 2011) has started all 10 games for the 6th ranked Pioneers this season.
Schilter is hitting .400 on the season, with four doubles, two triples, one home run and eight RBI.
University of Wisconsin – Whitewater The 15th ranked University of Wisconsin – Whitewater Warhawks fell to 5-4 on the season.
Jack Larsen (2010, 2011), fell to 0-2. Larsen threw the first four innings on Friday, giving up three earned runs on seven hits. Larsen’s ERA fell to 4.91.
Jared Fon (2010), was 2-4 on Friday with a run scored. Fon is hitting .367 this year, and has started all nine games for the Warhawks.
The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
