A’s Top Menasha in Playoff Opener

The Sheboygan A’s hammered the Menasha Macs by a 13-2 score in a mercy rule shortened Northeastern Wisconsin League semi-final playoff opener Friday night at Wildwood Baseball Park.

The A’s ran up 15 hits against the MACS, six of them for extra bases to support the solid pitching performance by Collin Weyer and Jake Ristow.

Greg Rhude led the way with three base hits and a triple and drove in three runs. Taylor Schwarz had a single and a home run, Ryan Solberg a single and triple, Derek Peake a single and a double, Tim Patzman two hits and Charlie Reschke and Justin Hung both doubles.

Weyer gave up only two runs through six innings and Ristow was perfect in the seventh.

Tonight’s game gets under way at 7:15 at Koslo Field in Menasha. A’s fans are leaving Wildwood Park at 5 p.m. to form a caravan to go to the game.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
