A’s Bounce Back, Beat Storm
Posted: July 16, 2011
What a difference a day makes. 24 little hours.
On Thursday night the A’s got behind early. They threw in the towell. Oshkosh got a big win.
On Friday night, the A’s got behind early. They didn’t quit. They battled. They took a 9-5 win over the Green Bay Storm.
The A’s hit the Storm with three runs in the first inning, but the Storm battled back to take a 5-3 lead. This is where the Thursday night A’s wouid have thrown in the towel. But the Friday night A’s, led by the gutty pitching of Mitch Gardner, came back to 5-4 in the fourth and then got two in the seventh when, with two outs, Colin Willis drove in the tying run with a clutch base hit and then scored himself on Charlie Reschke’s second double of the night.
The A’s then helped Bryan Dominick save Gardner’s win with three runs in the eighth.
Joey Patzman had three hits, all contributing to scoring innings; Taylor Schwarz drove in two runs with two hits; Reschke, Greg Rhude and Justin Hunt all drove in a run with two hits and Ryan Solberg drove in two runs with a double.
Today (Saturday) the A’s host Manitowoc at 1:30 in a rainout make-up game. It is Legend Larry’s Day with the famous Legend Larry’s Chicken wings going for 50 cents each.
