Posted: July 4, 2011

The Sheboygan A’s entered the holiday break with an 11-8 record overall — 4-3 in the Wisconsin State League and 3-4 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League.

This is a pivotal week for the A’s in State League play. They travel to 7-2 Manitowoc Tuesday night and host 8-4 Eau Claire in a 4-game weekend series. The club’s only home game this week is Thursday night when Kewaskum is here for an exhibition game.

On Wednesday night, Tim Patzman, Ryan Solberg, Derek Peake and Eric Van Beck will be on the Wisconsin State League Roster as it takes on the Chicago Suburban League in the all-star game in Kenosha.

On Friday night, Kenosha hosts another All-Star game, this one between the Northeastern Wisconsin League and the Langsdorf League of Southeastern Wisconsin. Solberg, Peake, Bryan Dominick and Mitch Gardner will represent the A’s in that game.

Patzman currently ranks fifth on the State League hitting chart with an even .400 average and is leading the league in the early going both in doubles and home runs.

Ben Stanczyk at 1-0 and 1.64 in 11 innings and Collin Weyer 1-0 and 2.00 are listed on the pitching chart.

A number of busy nights are coming up at the ball park this month including Three Guys and a Grill Night July 14 when $10 gift certificates will be given away every inning except the ninth where a $50 gift certificate will go.

The A’s are teaming with Larry’s Distributing for a super big night on July 21. Major prizes including a mountain bike, Weber Grill, MP3 speaker tower, mini fridge, bat chair, beer for year, win your height in Bud Light and a rolling collapsible cooler.

And the popular Legend Larry’s Wings and Things night has been rescheduled to Saturday afternoon, July 16 when the Manitowoc game will be made up at 1:30 p.m.

The club is asking fans to participate in the pledge-athon fund-raiser. Fans can make pledges on the stats of their player — a dime a hit, a quarter a double, etc. . All proceeds go the park debt retirement fund. Details are available at the ball park.
