King’s Big Inning Dooms A’s

Having more hits than your opponent is usually a good sign.
So is having fewer men left on base.
But sometimes, statistics are misleading.
The Sheboygan A’s out-hit the visiting Kenosha Kings 13-11 on Thursday night at Wildwood Park, and left fewer men on base as well (eight to nine).
But Kenosha erupted for five runs in the decisive eighth inning and beat Sheboygan 8-5 in a Wisconsin State League game.
The A’s (29-18 overall, 14-16 in the Wisconsin State League) had a big chance in the seventh, when they had runners on third and first, but failed to score. The score was 3-3 at the time. Kenosha, perhaps inspired by its stand, took advantage with the big eighth.
Taylor Schwarz had a great night for the A’s with three hits, including a double. Matt Schilter, Tim Patzman, Kreston Albright, David Novak and Jordan Rennicke all had two hits. Rennicke had two RBI.
The top three batters in Sheboygan’s order (Schilter, Patzman and Albright) combined to go 6-for-14, but scored only two total runs.
Pitcher Greg Blohowiak was touched up for seven earned runs in his 7-plus innings of work.
Sheboygan visits Appleton for a doubleheader on Saturday.
