Tillmon Lift’s A’s Over Kewaskum

Sean Tillmon delivered a stellar performance Wednesday night, collecting four hits in five at-bats to lead the Sheboygan A’s to a 9-5 Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League victory over the Kewaskum A’s.
The A’s now move back over .500 in the NEWBL at 3-2. They sit at 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the Wisconsin State League with a big WSL matchup with the defending WSL champion West Allis Nationals looming on Thursday night at Wildwood Park.
Tillmon’s offensive explosion Wednesday included a three-run home run to center in the first inning, a double in the fourth, and singles in the second and sixth innings.
The A’s set the tone early, with Tillmon’s three-run homer in the first being followed by a run-scoring double from Justin Schnell, giving Sheboygan a 5-0 lead after the top of the first.
Kewaskum responded in the second inning with a solo home run, but the A’s pitching staff, led by starter Joey Pettit, held strong. Pettit pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and five runs (one earned), with four strikeouts and one walk. Noah Imrie and Carlos Granela provided solid relief, keeping Kewaskum scoreless in the later innings.
Kewaskum made thing interesting in their half of the sixth, scoring three to make the score 6-5 at the time. But the A’s answered in the top of the 7th on back to back plays, where Gus Walker hit an RBI single to center field, and that was followed by Chase Hanselman reaching on a Kewaskum error that scored Alex Ames and Walker, increasing their lead to 9-5.
The A’s will play their third night in a row Thursday at home when they host West Allis in a Wisconsin State League showdown. Thursday is ‘BOGIE’ Night, presented by Texas Roadhouse – a night honoring the Green Bay Packers’ newest Fan Hall of Fame member and Sheboygan native, Dan Bogenschuetz. Fans are encouraged to wear Packers gear. Special menu items from Texas Roadhouse will be available. It’s also Mini Golf Night, where fans can play mini golf games between innings for a chance at winning prizes from area mini golf courses. Tickets are available now.
