Reklaitis Shuts Out Braves 2-0, Game With Kenosha Suspended

Posted: June 9, 2024

Rain created havoc Saturday as the A’s were hosting the Wisconsin State League Challenge.

The Challenge is a weekend where all Wisconsin State League teams come to Sheboygan for neutral site, regular season matchups.

The A’s started off the day taking on the first place Kenosha Kings. The A’s, winning 8-6 with two outs in the top of the fifth, saw the game get suspended due to rain. Had the A’s been able to record one more out, the game would have been considered complete. However, the game will now be resumed on Saturday, July 20 before the two teams play their regularly scheduled doubleheader in Sheboygan.

The rain caused several adjustments to the league schedule, but the A’s were able to play their game with the Braves Saturday night, and it was the A’s who emerged victorious, winning 2-0.

The A’s got on the board early in the top of the first when a passed ball allowed Alex Ames to score.

Amex factored into the second run as well, getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded which scored Ian Merry in the fifth to put the A’s up 2-0.

That’s all the offense the A’s would need as starting pitcher Jared Reklaitis pitched a complete game shutout. The right-hander allowed just five hits and no runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.

The A’s will wrap up the weekend Sunday with a 3 PM game against the Lombard Orioles. On Sunday, Spider Man makes an appearance at Wildwood Park, presented by Mischief & Magic. It’s also a Meijer Family Day, where all kids ages 14 and under get a free general admission ticket to the game. A’s players will be available for autographs and kids can run the bases after the game. Plus, enjoy the concession stand special of grilled cheese sandwiches and patty melts.
