Mike Martin Inducted to Sheboygan County Baseball Association Hall of Fame

Mike (Marty) Martin has the honor of being this year’s inductee into the Sheboygan County Baseball Association’s Hall of Fame.
“Marty” was inducted at the Sheboygan County Baseball Associations banquet on May 8, 2024.
Martin formerly served as the Vice President and served on the board of the Sheboygan Athletic Club. He currently serves as the live-stream announcer for A’s home games.
“Marty” started his baseball journey as a player with Sheboygan’s Little League program and Sheboygan’s Legion team. Following high school, he played 12 years of adult baseball (six with the Sheboygan A’s, five with the Howards Grove AC’s, and one with the Norfolk Angels). In 1970 he was a member of the UW-La Crosse varsity baseball team.
Following his baseball playing days, Martin stayed involved in the game, starting out on what would be a 35-year career as an umpire. He mostly umpired high school and adult games, including playoff games at both levels.
Martin coached baseball for 10 seasons, including the Chilton High School varsity baseball team for 6 years and his son’s youth teams for 4 years.
Martin is an active member and on the Board of Directors of the Sheboygan County Baseball Association after serving for 15 years as the organization’s Secretary/Treasurer.
Among other baseball-related activities, Marty served as bat boy for the Kingsbury Brewers for several seasons, team statistician for Howards Grove, and statistician for the Shoreland League.
The past three seasons he has also fulfilled pitch-counting duties for North High School.
Martin also works with Sheboygan’s local TV station, WSCS, calling high school sports games.
While working with WSCS, Martin produced the show “Denny Moyer and the Sheboygan A’s” along with other programs related to Sheboygan area sports.
The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
