Rock Bottom: Appleton Pounds A’s as Skid Continues

Posted: July 21, 2021

It’s a good thing most sports fans’ attention was on the basketball game in Milwaukee last night. Because what they would have seen at Wildwood Park would not have been good.

The Appleton Legends handed the Sheboygan A’s their second straight mercy-rule defeat at Wildwood Tuesday night. The final was 12-1.

It marked the third straight loss for the team and ninth in their last 13 games.

What makes the losses that more puzzling, is that two of the wins in that stretch were against one of the top teams in the country.

Looking to bounce make and make a statement after an embarrassing loss at home Monday, the A’s were their own worst enemy once again, and it started right away in the first inning with two errors that opened the door for three unearned runs from which the team never recovered.

The A’s managed only three hits, one a double by Jacoby Endreas that drove in the team’s only run.

The A’s busy stretch continues tonight as the team travels to Green Bay. Thursday the team is on the road to take on West Allis, and Friday in Menasha for a doubleheader.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League.
