Late Home Run Gives Nationals Lead, Victory Over A’s
Posted: June 30, 2021
The West Allis Nationals and the Sheboygan A’s each had something to prove Tuesday night.
West Allis proved it. The A’s, did not.
The A’s wasted another good start. This time from Brad Rindfleisch, who struck out 10 in six innings, as West Allis took a 7-2 victory that keeps them in the championship hunt, while the loss effectively eliminated the A’s from any Wisconsin State League championship hopes.
The game was a 0-0 affair with Rindfleisch and the Nationals’ Johnny Keane hanging up zeroes until Aaron Goecks hit a 2-run home run for West Allis in the sixth.
The Nats blew the game apart with a four-run eighth inning and added one in the ninth for good measure.
The loss keeps the A’s below the .500 line at 15-17 overall, 5-8 in the WSL. One bright spot so far this season is that the A’s currently sit in first place in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League at 5-2.
The team will get a chance to add to that NEWBL lead tonight as the team travels to Kewaskum.
