Green Bay Takes 4-3 Victory in Extras
Posted: July 2, 2015
The Sheboygan A’s came out on the 3 end of a 4-3 10-inning nail-biter against the Storm in Green Bay Wednesday night.
Entering the week, the A’s were unbeaten in the Northeastern Wisconsin League now they and Menasha both have two losses.
The challenge continues for the A’s, who play another important NEW game tonight in Appleton.
Hits by Nate Heili and Dan Barwck produced a 1-0 A’s lead in the third, but longtime A’s killer Doug Coe doubled in a run and then scored himself for a 2-1 Green Bay lead after six.
Cole Miklavcic got hit by a pitch to lead off the ninth inning, moved up on an infield out and scored on an error to tie the game.
Now tiring, pitchers Taylor Schwarz for the A’s and Dante Wilmet for the Storm were locked in a magnificent mound duel, but after surrendering a 2-out single, Schwarz was pulled in favor of AJ Alessi, who promptly racked up a strikeout to end the mini-threat.
Then came the extra tenth.
With one out, Wyatt Olson doubled, moved to third on an error and scored on Taylor Grimm’s sacrifice. It was a 3-2 Sheboygan lead and it set off the small but exuberant Sheboygan cheering section.
The celebration was short. Two walks, two hits and an error scored two runs for Green Bay and gave the Storm the 4-3 extra inning win.
The A’s are now 7-2 for in the NEW and 16-8 for the season.
