A’s Victorious in Home Opener
Posted: June 2, 2015
The A’s sent eight to the plate in a 4-run seventh inning rally that turned a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 victory over the reigning Northeastern Wisconsin League champion Menasha Macs Monday at Wildwood Park before a chilled but enthusiastic United Way Night crowd. The win gave Manager Chad Langely his first career managerial win.
Trailing 2-1 in the seventh, the A’s strung together four hits with a four-run two-out rally. Tony Grannis lead off the inning with a single, followed by an RBI double by Harry Steldt, then a RBI triple by Wyatt Olson, and Dan Barwick capped the rally with an RBI single for the final 5-2 score.
Cole Miklavcic started the scoring for the A’s when he knocked in Barwick with fourth inning single.
Taylor Schwarz started on the mound for the A’s going six innings. He gave up six hits, uncharacteristically walked three and struck out four. AJ Alessi threw two innings to get the win and Rob Hagedorn worked the ninth for the save.
The A’s are back at Wildwood Park tonight to take on the West Allis Natinals in a make-up of the game that was rained out Friday night. First pitch is at approximately 7:45 PM.
