The A’s scored in the top of the first to make it 1-0 and added runs in the third and fourth innings.
Tony Lamers hit a 2-run home run in the fifth to narrow the gap to one at 3-2 for Menasha and in the sixth they sent seven men to the plate, but managed only one run thanks to some artful relief pitching by Mitch Gardner. It stayed that way until the bottom of the ninth.

Meanwhile the A’s had Jack Taschner, the former Big Leaguer and Sheboygan A’s pitcher, on the ropes in the first, third and fourth innings, but managed only one run in each.
