Rematch: A’s Will Meet Kings For Langsdorf League Crown

In a white-knuckler from start to finish, the Sheboygan A’s made three early runs stand up and escaped with a 3-2 win over the West Allis Nationals to gain a berth in the Langsdorf League championship series.
The A’s launch a best-of-three championship series against the Kenosha Kings tonight in Kenosha. Game two will be played in Sheboygan on Thursday night.
Matt Soderholm’s solo home run gave the Nationals a 1-0 lead in the first.
The A’s quickly recovered, scoring two in the second. Harry Steldt got hit in the hand by a pitch to start the inning. Chad Langley followed with a double and then Jordan DeBoer and Trevor Theissen followed with RBI singles.
The A’s made it 3-1 in the third when Cole Heili led off the inning with a double and scored on Steldt’s follow-up base hit.
With Bryce Taylor pitching effectively, that lead held up until West Allis scored in the sixth to set the score at what would be the final 3-2.
However that score was far from final as the game unfolded. Defensive miscues nearly cost the A’s the lead, but sparkling plays by second baseman Luke Maldonado bailed the A’s out of two precarious innings. Taylor went six innings to get the win, with Derek Loomans going the final three for the save. Taylor gave up only three hits through his six innings while striking out six. Loomans surrendered two hits in his three innings.
DeBoer and Theissen had two hits to lead the A’s.
Taylor Schwarz gets the start in the championship series opener tonight in Kenosha. The A’s take a 33-21 record into the finals.
