Schwarz Pitches Third Straight Complete Game Victory

Posted: July 16, 2013

Taylor Schwarz posted his team high fourth win of the season, going the distance and limiting Racine to just six hits with 10 strikeouts as the A’s posted a 7-1 Langsdorf League win over Racine.

It was a big win for the A’s who needed a bounce back win after two disheartening losses Sunday in the Wisconsin State League Challenge.

So much was Schwarz in control that only one Racine runner got as far as second base until the eighth when Racine used a walk and two hits to get their only run of the night.

Meanwhile, smart at bats and Racine control problems combined to help the A’s build a lead. Greg Rhude’s 2-run single highlighted the A’s 3-run fourth; three walks and an infield out scored another in the fifth; Cole Heili’s long triple keyed a 2-run sixth and more wildness contributed to the seventh run in the seventh inning.

Rhude finished with a 4-for-4 night, and Sam Mattheis had two hits to lead the A’s.

The A’s are off Tuesday and travel to Oshkosh Wednesday night before returning home for Thursday and Friday match-ups with the Kenosha Kings and Burlington Barons on Friday night.

Thursday’s matchup with the Kings will be one of the biggest games of the year thus far for the A’s, as the A’s hold a half game lead over Kenosha for first place in the Langsdorf Leauge. The winner of the regular season title gets a bye into the Langsdorf League championship series. Thursday is also Tri-Parish Night at the park.

Friday is Craft Beer Night sponsored by 8th Stree Ale Haus.
