A’s Rained Out
Posted: June 28, 2013
There was a beautiful rainbow aglow over Wildwood Baseball Park Thursday night, but there was no pot of gold for the Sheboygan A’s.
A downpour hit at game time forcing a delay to the start of the game. But groups from Zion Covenant Church, Swovy’s and Cub Scout Pack 3816 patiently waited out the storm and the follow-up field re-preparation.
When the game got under way, the A’s picked up a run in the first inning, but they would never hit again as umpires spied lightning in the middle of the second inning and stopped play again.
This time they waited 15-20 minutes, continued to see lightning and called the game.
As turned out it never did rain again, still the A’s, the Oshkosh Giants and the fans all went home.
The A’s now have a well-deserved weekend off before playing at Racine Monday night.
After that they will host Appleton Tuesday and Manitowoc Wednesday before hosting the Langsdorf/Northeastern Wisconsin Leagues’ All-Star game on Friday, July 5. That will be Military Appreciation in patriotic honor of the week’s Independence Day activities. All veterans will be admitted to the All-Star Game free of charge.
The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels). All Sheboygan A's home games are played at Wildwood Baseball Park in Sheboygan. Connect with the A's on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
