Former A’s managers moving up collegiate ladder

2011 Sheboygan A’s Manager Shaun Wegner and 2012 Sheboygan A’s Manager Kyle Trewyn have both accepted collegiate coaching positions this past week.

Trewyn, who guided the A’s to the playoffs in the Northeastern Wisconsin League, and to the final game of the championship series in the A’s first season as members of the Langsdorf League, has accepted an assistant coaching position with division one school, Bradley University. Bradley is based in Peoria, Illinois and is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference.

Trewyn spent last season as a graduate assistant coach for the University of Minnesota-Duluth before taking the head coaching position with the A’s this past summer.

Wegner, who was named co-Manager of the Year in the Northeastern Wisconsin League in is only season at the helm in Sheboygan, has accepted the assistant coaching position at division three powerhouse University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Wegner, in 2011, managed the A’s to a 32-17 record. He served as a graduate assistant coach for the University of Minnesota-Mankato the past few spring seasons. This past summer, he was an assistant coach for the Lakeshore Chinooks of the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
