A’s fall in game one of the NEW semi-finals

Posted: August 7, 2012

Ben Stanczyk will try to right the ship tonight after the Green Bay Storm blew holes in the hull Monday night in Green Bay.

The Storm battered A’s pitching for three home runs a triple and a pair of doubles en route to a 17-2 victory in the first game of the best of three semi-final playoff series. Game two is set for 7:30 p.m. at Wildwood Park tonight.

Doug Coe blasted pair of home runs and Chris Laux belted a third. Laux added a double and Travis Mason hit a double and a triple.

Derek Loomans and Mitch Gardner, who have both given the A’s quality innings this season, were both hammered. Loomans was tagged for eight runs in an inning and one-third, and Gardner gave up six in one and two-thirds. The A’s were behind 14-1 before bench coach Tyler Martin took the ball himself and gave his club three credible innings.

Harry Stedt had a single and double and Justin Hunt and Sam Raff a pair of base hits for the A’s.

Nick Schadrie got the win for Green Bay; Loomans took the loss. The A’s are now 33-25 for the season.
