While the West Allis Nationals were scoring seven runs in the middle innings, the Sheboygan A’s were making 17 straight outs.
When that stretch ended, the A’s found themselves unable to come back and wound up 8-5 losers in a Langsdorf League contest. The loss leaves the A’s with a second place 11-7 record in the Langsdorf. West Allis finishes 10-8.
The A’s take on the Kenosha Kings tonight in a 7:30 p.m. Wisconsin State League game. Ben Stanczyk gets the start.
Two doubles and a single, followed by a couple walks and an infield out gave the A’s a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
That was the last run the A’s would score. While the A’s recorded 17 straight outs West Allis took advantage of A’s errors, clutch hits, even a balk, to outscore the A’s 8-2 the rest of the way and take a decisive win.
Starter Jake Schaefer couldn’t get out of the fourth inning and took the loss.
Drew Pearson and Tim Patzman split four of the A’s seven hits.
Jimmy Jungbauer took the win for the Nationals. Adam Widder got took the save.
The A’s begin the Langsdorf League playoffs on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Wildwood Park.
