Posted: May 28, 2012
After a brisk set of Saturday games, the Sheboygan A’s and the Manistee Saints played a marathon Sunday afternoon.
The A’s erupted for nine runs in the first inning and racked up a 20-6 win.
The win puts the A’s at 3-0 going into their first Northeastern Wisconsin League contest Wednesday night at Wildwood Baseball Park against the Menasha MACs. Wednesday is Red and White Badger Night and Lutheran High Night. The A’s will recognize the championship Lutheran High School Basketball team before the game.
On Saturday, the A’s got a 1-0 win over Manistee behind Mitch Gardner’s no hitter and then a 5-1 win behind a stellar start by Lucas Wilsing.
Sunday was a different story. The A’s took advantage of six walks, a hit batsman, and added four hits to push over nine first inning runs. They cruised home after that.
Ryan Schilter, Taylor Schwarz, Drew Pearson and Alex Jaskulski led the way offensively. Schilter had four including two doubles, scored four runs and drove in three; Schwarz had four hits, also with a pair of doubles, scored three runs and drove in two; Pearson, also with a pair of doubles, had three hits, scored three runs and drove in four, and Jaskulski had two hits.
